Attorney General Announces Investigation into President's Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Connections

This past Friday, Pam Bondi designated interim US attorney Jay Clayton to oversee an investigation into opponents of Donald Trump and their connections with Jeffrey Epstein. This action came hours after the president ordered her to begin the probe.

During an announcement, Bondi commended Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. She added, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”

This development seems to diverge from a July memo from federal authorities which stated that the Epstein files did not warrant further inquiries. As per the memo, investigators “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”

The President Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as growing pressure from Trump on lawmakers to block the public disclosure of files concerning Epstein before an key congressional decision in the coming days. Many Republicans are expected to back the release.

Newly public communications from Epstein have brought attention to Trump’s past involvement with the convicted criminal, including information that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.

That same day, the President announced he would ask the DOJ to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, including prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, he also described the “Epstein hoax” as a “deception”.
