A teenage youth was found dead just days after being wrongly accused of stealing the cremated remains of a deceased infant during a burglary, an inquest has learned.

Heartbreaking Finding

The young boy's mother and father discovered his body in his room at his Flintshire home on 19 November 2021.

Untrue Accusations Begin

The investigation learned how his parent got a communication on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a individual asking if her son was her child. The communication stated: "Inform him thanks for breaking into my apartment."

In a testimony read to the court, the mother said the woman had been in the media, asserting her infant's ashes had been stolen in a break-in - a allegation which was untrue.

Police Inquiry

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the supposed break-in victim had "lied to police" and "evidence shows that the property was never taken in the beginning".

Media reports about the supposed taken remains attracted social media responses, and although Kai was not identified in the messages, his parent said individuals "understood it was him".

The "online posts were really distressing", she stated.

Emotional Health Effect

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with moderate attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that condition, other individuals' views genuinely were important to him.

"This must have hurt him deeply," she said, "particularly when this was untrue".

Kai was arrested at his residence, but nothing was found. He was taken to a police station and later freed pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in touch, the hearing learned, but had failed to contacted the relatives by the time of his passing.

Isolation and Worry

His parent said her son "withdrew into himself" after the detention and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "a minute could seem like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged incident, she said her son informed her he had gone into the house because the woman who lived there had said he could utilize the toilet anytime he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Bullying

In a combined testimony between her and her husband, the mother said her son was being harassed online after the accusations.

The inquest learned that a 19-year-old urged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no concerns on the evening before he died, describing how she had listened to him "laughing and teasing".

She described him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is totally shattered".

He had been "clearly hiding his concerns", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "think bad of him".

Educational Reaction

The inquest received testimony from educational staff at the local secondary school.

On 8 November, she "overheard some boys discussing that Kai had been detained and that was the first I learned".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she added.

After the discussion, the staff member said she called Kai's parents' landline and provided a voicemail saying she had communicated to the student about the allegations.

The court heard his parents said they did not got that message.

Official Conclusion

Senior investigator told the hearing he would wait for reports regarding what improvements had been made to handling individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent fatalities report.

Providing a descriptive conclusion, he said: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsupported allegations were made against the teenager, a 14-year-old individual.

"Likely untruths were subsequently embellished and amplified through the platform of online networks.

"On November 11th, he was questioned by the authorities and following his questioning he was freed while inquiries proceeded."

The coroner concluded: "Exists no evidence that the actions or omissions of any agency led to or contributed to his passing and although it was the result of a personal action it is impossible to discern his intent."
